Oreo Truffle Footballs - A Guest Post

Awhile back, I had asked Kate if she had an interest in writing guest posts for my blog. She didn't necessarily want to start a blog of her own, but still had good ideas that she wanted to share. I'm excited to bring you her first post-out of many more, I hope!

About a month ago Sara asked me to do a guest blog entry. So, I thought and thought and thought some more. And this weekend it finally hit me!!! Nick and I are invited to a Super Bowl party and I needed to find something cute to bring! So, I searched high and low and found a cute baking blog called Bakerella and the perfect Super Bowl recipe. I hope you enjoy!

Oreo Truffle Footballs
What you need:
1 package Oreo cookies
1 8oz package of cream cheese, softened
Melting Chocolate (I used about 1 1/2 cups of milk chocolate chips)
Parafin Wax

Using a food processor, grind up the Oreo Cookies. Or, place them in a zip lock bag and crush them using a rolling pin.

The crushed Oreos should look like this.

Mix in the cream cheese to the crushed Oreo Cookies.

Make sure you use a large bowl or you will end up with a mess!!!

Form the mixture in to football shapes. Then, freeze the molded footballs for a few minutes (while you continue with the next steps) or refrigerate for longer. I refrigerated for about 1.5 hours while I went to Jazzercise.

Cut 1/3 bar of parafin wax and then cut it into small pieces.

Mix the wax and the melting chocolate (I used Nestle Toll House Milk Chocolate chips) in a bowl and place the bowl on top of a simmering pot of water and mix chocolate/wax until melted.

Remove footballs from the freezer and dip them into the melted chocolate. I used a fork to dip them into the chocolate.

After the chocolate has cooled, draw laces and lines of the football with butter cream icing.

I just tinted some coconut with green food coloring to make grass on the platter. Not only are these little footballs super cute, but they'll be a touchdown at the party! I don't care who wins the Super Bowl, as long as the commercials are good!
